Communicating with live injects

A live outside broadcast (OB), whether it is a multi-camera affair or a more modest single camera unit, feeding into a studio is known as an inject. They are simple to work if you have good communications. Without good communications they will go belly up and you will be blamed.

PCF and PTB

Ideally the OB presenter is listening to PCF (or IFB), and the camera operator hears production talkback (PTB). Don’t forget the camera operator cannot see the shots in your studio, so if you want his shots to match yours, you will need to talk him through exactly what you want.
