Finishing programmes

The ends of programmes tend to be set pieces, in many ways similar to the starts of programmes, but usually simpler.

Here we have another mythical programme – a sports chat show. At the end the presenter (Andy) will ad-lib a ‘thank you’ to the guest (Glen), before turning to his camera (camera 3) and reading off the prompter.

Pre-fade roll

This means running a tape of a known duration (or music from a separate source) at a fixed time before the programme needs to end. You can mix to this tape at any time after it has rolled, and you know it will have pictures and music that finish at exactly the right time.
