Electronic newsroom systems

News production has to overcome special challenges which are assisted by the use of electronic newsroom systems (ENS) a fancy name for a computer system.

Information coming into a newsroom (stories, or ‘wires’, satellite feeds etc.) needs to be seen by a great many people. Running orders (the order in which the stories will appear in the final programme) will change right up to transmission, and often while the programme is on air. Computers are ideally suited to disseminating information.
