Your sound equipment

The director usually has a range of sound monitoring equipment built into the desk. Please learn how to use it. It has been painstakingly built for your benefit.

Set the programme sound level so that you can comfortably hear it without it drowning everything and everybody else.

Set the incoming talkback level from your floor manager to a comfortable level.

Your talkback microphone needs to be switched on (many have a mute switch with a red warning light when the mic is cut off).

If you have outside broadcasts coming in to your programme, check and set your talkback levels to them.
