Studio sound

The sound department provide the technical and artistic recording of your programme sound from the studio floor. This may be in mono or stereo.

They replay into the studio pre-recorded music and effects as required by the production. They look after talkback and communications. They normally provide radio talkback units for production/sound/lighting. They are usually ignored far too much of the time. Sorry guys.

The sound team

The sound supervisor mixes all the sources on the sound desk. He may have one or more assistants, depending on the size and nature of the programme.
