So much of proper speaker placement depends on the speaker’s properties and on the variables introduced by the venue acoustics. The reason why it’s important for you to know something about acoustics is that no single setup configuration will work for every occasion. When the standard setups you’re used to fail you, you may need to use the rule-of-thumb advice given here, along with your knowledge of acoustics, to tweak your system to suit the situation as best you can. Always use your ears as your guide, and don’t be afraid to make changes if needed
