Video, the Electronic Medium

INTRODUCTION

Video and television are terms used to describe the electronic medium for gathering, recording, and transmitting moving images and sound. Video production has gradually transcended its broadcast radio beginnings and adopted many techniques used in location and studio filmmaking. Video is an inherently electronic medium, however, and differs from photographic film in many fundamental respects. Since it responds to light in a different way than film, it deserves to be considered in a separate category.
