Resolving power and bandwidth

A television camera converts an image into an electrical signal that will eventually be transmitted. The resolving power required from a TV zoom lens will therefore be related to the maximum frequency of the bandwidth of the signal transmitted plus the specification of the imaging device and line structure. The finesse of detail transmitted will depend on the particular TV standard in use (e.g. 625 PAL; 525 NTSC).
