Overview of the paresh Approach

The main script used to implement Oracle parallel exports is called paresh, for “PARallel Export SHell”. The basic approach involves two steps:

Structure Only Export Perform a structure-only export of the entire database. This export includes objects such as tables, indexes, clusters, users, and accounts (at this point no data is exported). This step takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on database size and hardware used. Build a list of database export commands based on this information. To perform this step, an approach such as the one described in the section “The list_tbls Script” on page 143can be used.
2.
Complete Data Export Export all the data, one table at a time. There may be thousands of tables ...
