Once the domain registration is complete, the next step is to create a DNS, but when you register a domain from AWS Route 53, it registers a hosted zone automatically. A DNS can be created in Route 53 or you can use other providers. The usual renewal period of a domain is 1 year, some TLD (Top Level Domains) provide longer subscriptions as well. Wisely select the domain expiry. The period during which you can renew a domain varies from different TLDs.
The values that Route 53 returns after registration are as follows:
- Registered on: The date on which the domain is registered
- Expires on: The date and time (in GMT) when the domain is going to expire
- Domain name status code: Current status of the domain (Example: Registering, ...
