Getting ready

Before creating a CloudFront web distribution:

  • Make sure your origin is available. Configure origin servers (S3/web server/load balancer) from which CloudFront gets your files for distribution.
  • Upload files to the origin servers. Files, also known as objects, typically include web pages, images, and media files but can be anything that can be served over HTTP.
  • Configure the S3 bucket for logging.
  • Create a CNAME or alias record. Optionally, you can configure your CloudFront distribution to use a custom domain name.
  • Upload your SSL certificate if you want to use a custom certificate.
