Alias resource record

  • Route 53 supports alias records that give the flexibility to point our custom endpoints to the resource record set and TLD (abc.com)
  • You can create alias record for CloudFront distribution, Elastic Beanstalk endpoint, ELB Endpoint, S3 bucket, or any other Route 53 resource record set
  • You can use Alias record to point an apex zone (root domain without www, for example: google.com) to any custom DNS name
  • As ELB and other resources change their IP frequently, Route 53 Alias makes this task easier by reflecting those changes automatically without making any changes to the hosted zone
