How it works...

The load balancer sends requests using the Protocol and Path that you provide in the Health checks. It initiates a request at a given interval to all server associated with it. If some server does not respond back in predefined interval for few consecutive requests, the server is marked as OutOfService. Load balancer does not send user requests to it. However load balancer keeps on sending the health check request. If server responds back to few consecutive health check requests, it is marked as InService. Load balancer send user requests to it again. Advanced health check settings provide better control on frequency of these requests and threshold to decide whether the server is healthy or not.
