This chapter discusses the longitudinal control of vehicle motion in the context of AVCS for ITS. It begins with a slightly
refined version of a cruise-control system with preview, which uses site-specific information available through the highway infrastructure. It then builds on the ACC topic of Chapter 12
as an intermediate step to the control of vehicles operating in platoons.
