Provision Secure Store Services
We now turn our attention to the Secure Store Services (SSS). In Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Secure Store Services replaces the single sign-on (SSO) feature that was available in SharePoint 2007. Secure Store Services stores credentials that are used to access shared resources. The credentials are stored in a secure database and are associated with the resources via an application ID.
Secure Store Services is Claims-aware and can accept tokens, decrypt them, and perform the lookup, and the credentials are then used to access the resource. It is important to note that this data is extremely sensitive, and you should take the appropriate steps to protect it.
