Configure Inter-Server Communications

It is now time to move our journey outside the SharePoint boxes. Inter-Server Communications are typically used to describe traffic between SharePoint and other servers. Active Directory, Exchange, and AD FS 2.0 are all candidates for this category.

SharePoint 2010 offers some advanced designs that allow us to build Shared Services using the new Service Application architecture across SharePoint Farms. In this section, we will examine how to interact with Active Directory and discuss the steps required for establishing communication in an Enterprise Services Farm architecture using Windows PowerShell.
