The Essentials and Beyond

This chapter reviewed key concepts in CG lighting, including three-point lighting. You learned about the various types of lights that 3ds Max has to offer, from default lights to target spots, and how to use them. We explored the common light parameters to gauge how best to control the lights in your scene before moving on to creating various types of shadows. We ran through a set of short exercises in which you created a volumetric light for a fog effect, and we finished with a tour of the Light Lister window.
