SIGNAL PROCESSING EQUIPMENT

8.1  INTRODUCTION

Signal processing, or audio processing, is nothing more than the process of altering the sound of audio—such as an announcer’s voice or a CD. We’ve already seen a few forms of audio processing in the equalization capabilities of some audio consoles and the “bass roll-off” feature of some microphones (this is actually a form of processing, specifically equalization), but most signal processing is accomplished either by the use of separate audio components or software.
