This chapter follows the path of the location sound through the picture editing process. Decisions made at this stage will significantly affect the work of the sound editors further down the line.

In the last 10 years, computer-based editing has almost completely replaced tape and film editing in professional applications. Editors still choose to cut 35-mm features on film occasionally, usually for creative reasons.
