Chapter 71. An Idea Turned into Millions!

Pete William often gets called the Australian version of billionaire Sir Richard Branson. This is not because he also has a few billion dollars lying around, but more likely because he is a smart entrepreneur and businessman with a knack for making money and getting attention. Pete is most famous for working out a scheme to sell Australia's version of Yankee Stadium, The Melbourne Cricket Ground when he was only 21-years-old. Here's his story.

Back when I was 21, I sold Australia's version of Yankee Stadium—The Melbourne Cricket Ground for $500 and got national media exposure. I was reading the book, The One Minute Millionaire, and in it, it tells the story of a guy from New Jersey, who in the 1980s sold old pieces of the famous Brooklyn Bridge's walkway timber. He went about creating 5" X 11" certificates outlining the history of the bridge, attaching a small piece of the timber and selling them for around $14.95 each, and word around the campfire is that he made like $2 million from it.

Obviously as a young Trump-wanna-be I loved this idea, and started to think how I could rip this idea off, replicate the idea, and implement it here in Australia. It was a much better idea then pinching golf balls off the local pitch-n-putt to resell.
