Chapter 54. Do You Have a Voice?

It's not only important to have the right image on the Web, you also need to have a voice. It doesn't matter what you do or what you're representing, your audience needs to be able to connect with you if you want them to be able to latch on and remember you. To do that, you need to have a unique and interesting point of view or a voice. Without it, it's going to be much harder to break through and get noticed.

Joel Libava, aka The Franchise King, has a voice. He's the world's preeminent expert on the business of franchises. When he does speaking gigs and television interviews, he has his crown right next to him, or on his head. So not only is he the expert in his niche, he also has a hook that makes people pay attention to him. He's the king! Anyone can go on Fox News in a suit and talk about franchising, but only Joel can go on and engage his audience with his crown.

Let's get beyond the hook, because having a voice is bigger than that. As previously mentioned in countless examples throughout this book we've talked about ways to stand out and get people to pay attention to you. However, that's not all that is required. Your voice matters. Your voice is how you consistently communicate your messages to your audience.
