Chapter 49. Speaking of Questions

Many questions arise for businesses when they are thinking about adopting an outrageous attention-getting campaign. Obviously, one of the first questions you must consider is, "Is this a strategy that will work for my brand?" Of course, only you can answer that question, but it's immediately important to not discredit the concept, even for more established brands. If done right, it can help you accomplish your goals in a major way.

As a business owner it's often difficult to think outrageously. This is true either because it's simply not how you've done business in the past, or because your mind isn't trained to think in such a manner. However, perhaps the reason that most don't want to try something outrageous is that they are worried about how they're going to look. There is an inherent mind-set that stops most people from doing anything that could possibly make us look foolish or silly. We're taught from birth that we should blend in with everyone else and not try to be different. This is evident from the playgrounds of your youth all the way up to, and including, your personal and business interactions.

The good news is that because the majority of us are too afraid to try something outrageous, there are many more opportunities for a select few brave ones to stand out. If everyone were different, nobody would be different.
