Tools of the Trade

As with any profession, auto mechanics have their own set of tools. You might be familiar with some of them, whereas others may be new to you, depending on whether you have automotive experience.

Be sure you know the most common hand and power tools that automotive work entails.

The tools that we discuss in this section are the ones that most commonly comprise an automotive tool kit. We discuss the tools that you will see in a mechanic's shop in subsequent sections, but a tool kit normally includes the following categories of tools:
