Summary

In this chapter, we've reviewed the history of Active Server Pages from its release as Denali to the most recent version, ASP.NET. The release of the .NET framework is a dramatic shift in programming methodology, and ASP developers will need to relearn Internet application development in order to take advantage of the many enhancements offered by ASP.NET. However, its many advantages make the effort involved in learning it well worth it. We examined a handful of the ways ASP.NET has been improved over classic ASP, and we will see more examples of these benefits in coming chapters.
