Aligning resources to achieve desired results is one of the primary responsibilities of any association staff leader—dollars need to be allocated, volunteers need to be assigned to critical tasks, and metrics of achievement need to be established. But arguably the most critical—and perhaps most challenging to manage—are an association's human resources. Human resources, that is, an organization's employees, are the capital that can help associations navigate to success; or, they can be the reason that an association can get derailed from its stated mission.
