32. Spyro Gyra: Still Going Strong

Twenty-six albums and three decades later, Spyro Gyra is still mixing up the best jazz rhythms in the business. Founder and saxophone player Jay Beckenstein’s journey has been interesting—both as a musician and as a studio owner. Until 2006, he owned Bear Tracks Recording, an idyllic, world-class studio nestled amongst the trees in upstate New York. That studio hosted acclaimed artists and producers such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Phil Ramone, and Dream Theater over a period of many years.
