With the publication of this book, McGraw-Hill Education rounds out a series that has flourished and grown for nearly 30 years. Our founding author, the late Stanley Foster Reed, launched the original, all-purpose volume, The Art of M&A: A Merger/Acquisition/Buyout Guide, in 1988 with two seemingly ostentatious goals: (1) to explain the complete lifecycle of an M&A transaction—from strategy, to valuation, financing, structuring, due diligence, integration, and even restructuring—and (2) to explore these topics purely through the Socratic method, itself a lost art that uses questions and answers to stimulate critical thinking and to illuminate ideas.
