The Test Environment

Most of the time usability tests are conducted in usability test laboratories. But for some applications, the environment in which the test takes place can affect its outcome. Consider an application that will be used primarily in a noisy, outdoor location. In this example, the indoor laboratory environment might not produce accurate results. In such cases, it makes sense to test in the actual environment in which the application will be used. This may produce some logistical challenges, but the results will be worth it.
