Building the Teachbot Learning Platform
The Teachbot learning platform is a low-cost, 7" diameter servo-driven robot base, ready for expansion. It’s called “Teachbot” because it’s designed to help teach robot fundamentals using the Arduino microcontroller development board. If you’re just starting out in robotics and the Arduino, this is where you want to be.
There are two versions of the Teachbot. This chapter introduces the basic version, which uses a pair of low-cost radio control (R/C) servo motors to scoot the robot across the floor. A modified version of the Teachbot, covered in Chapter 9, details exchanging the servos with high-speed gear motors, among other topics.
