This chapter will look at the day-to-day practice of architecture: what an architect needs to consider in their daily, professional life. As a profession architecture requires design creativity and high-level management skills. These management skills relate to both the management of the design and construction process and also the management of people (design teams, consultants, construction teams). In large practices—in which there may be hundreds of employees, many qualified architects and a host of other professionals—the management structures will need to be both robust and effective in delivering the design quality that the client expects.
