Foreword

ALTHOUGH WE’VE OFFICIALLY STEPPED INTO the 21st century, we’ve barely passed over the threshold. For many of us, simply the phrase “the 21st century” conjures up visions of flying cars, vacationing on space stations, and a utopian world where everything is computerized.

These visions haven’t quite been fully realized. There are some promising prototypes of flying cars out there. Dr. Paul S. Moller continues to make progress on his skycar, with the possibility of delivery in early 2009! According to a report published by the Toronto Daily Star, even Boeing has gotten into the act with the goal of developing a flying car that is quiet, fuel-efficient, and easy to fly and maintain and that costs the same as a luxury vehicle.
