This book has provided a concise overview of leaders' perspectives on major issues in technology in the financial and commodity markets. Its goal has been to introduce key trends as well as specific technologies that are helping firms address current business challenges, as well as those that are yet to come. In these markets, as in most other industries, technology becomes valuable in context, when applied to business issues.

In their interviews, the leaders took care to make technology accessible, and in doing so bolstered this book's thesis that they excel at both explaining technology to a wider audience and communicating its value to the business of markets.

Technology occupies a central role in today's markets and its importance will continue to grow. As it does, it is essential for the business side to achieve, at the minimum, a topical understanding of major themes in technology in our industry. For a cross-section of readers, by better understanding technology issues, like those profiled in this book, we can build a more productive partnership between IT and business.
