Azure Data Catalog provides a central repository where you can find all of the data sources that are used inside your organization. Most employees inside an organization are not aware of where enterprise data is located or who is responsible for that data. With Azure Data Catalog, any user (such as a developer or analyst, for instance) can discover and consume the data source from a central place.
