Static workloads

Static workloads show flat resource utilization over time within particular boundaries. Applications with static workloads are less likely to see benefit from an elastic cloud that uses a pay-per-use model because resource requirements are constant. Periodic workloads are very common in real deployments. Examples include monthly paychecks, monthly telephone bills, yearly car checkups, weekly status reports, or the daily use of public transport during the rush hour. Tasks occur in distinct patterns, and the customer realizes cost-savings from the ability to de-provision resources during non-peak times.
