32.2. Types and Views of Architecture

Some descriptions of architecture define different types, such as the “application architecture” (allocation of features to components) or “system architecture” (hardware and operating system configuration).

In the UP, there is a similar specialization of information, but these are described in “views” of the architecture, which summarize and emphasize a particular perspective. For example, the logical view of the architecture, which was introduced in Chapter 30, summarizes the organization and functionality of the major software elements (such as the layers)—it is similar to the term application architecture.
