SOAP and Attachments

In July 2000, a specification for using MIME multipart/related attachments was introduced to the SOAP community. This approach enables a SOAP message and zero or more attachments to be transmitted as a single SOAP message package. By using media types and specific URI schemes in this protocol, you can relate different parts of a SOAP message to attachments in the package. Figure 9.1 shows how the SOAP message package is organized within HTTP.
