SOAP v1.2

Aside from the simple fixes of typos and some minor clarification, SOAP v1.2 isn't all that different from v1.1. The following list summarizes the actual changes that have taken place:

  • SOAP no longer stands for Simple Object Access Protocol.

  • Bindings are now considered a component of SOAP.

  • Namespace URIs and associated prefixes have changed.

  • Version transition is provided from SOAP v1.1 to v1.2.

  • Changes and fixes to examples have been made.

  • SOAP schemas are compliant with the XML Schema recommendation.

  • Changes to SOAP schemas have been made in both syntax and semantics.

  • A defined mechanism has been added for communicating faults in regard to header elements containing the mustUnderstand attribute.

  • A glossary of terms has been added.
