Chapter ThreeApplied Research Designs

In this chapter we discuss research designs, or plans to go about collecting data. We begin with a discussion of general design parameters and the major design types and their conditions and general principles. We discuss research designs that are best suited for applied research studies; although the concept of a research design describes a common set of principles and practices, there are some approaches that are more suitable to certain questions than others.
