9.8. Distributed transactions and two-phase commit

In this section, we examine in detail the operation of a typical distributed transaction management system, particularly the ‘two-phase commit’ process. This information goes beyond what is required for EJB development. In fact, one of the benefits of EJB technology is that the transaction management infrastructure is completely invisible to the developer and can be configured at deployment time.
