6.8. Analyzing the ‘Interest’ EJB

In Chapter 4, we implemented a simple session EJB. We are now in position to analyze the behaviour of this EJB, and its interaction with the container, in more detail. In the discussion that follows, I assume that the EJB was deployed to the J2EE Reference Implementation; other products will behave similarly, but procedures and naming conventions will be different.

This section is provided for developers who want to know in great depth how EJBs work. In practice, you will be able to implement perfectly satisfactory EJBs without knowing this level of detail, but it can be very helpful to understand what’s going on ‘under the hood’ if things aren’t working the way you expect.
