B.6. Summary

We have seen that the deployment descriptor for a package of EJBs is relatively straightforward if analyzed one piece at a time. The problem with constructing these files manually is not so much the difficulty of understanding what goes where, but the size of the file. The deployment descriptor for the Prestige Bike Hire application EJBs, for example, is nearly 4,000 lines long, and that’s as generated by the deployment tool. If it were formatted in a nice, human-readable layout it would probably be three times as long. Using XML editors, rather than text editors, may allow some of this complexity to be managed.
