A.4. Messaging enhancements

In EJB 2.0, message-driven EJBs are associated with JMS message queues and topics. EJB 2.1 extends the API to make it possible for products to support non-JMS messages, such as SMTP email receipts. This scheme is made vendor-neutral by being based on the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA).

It will also be possible to create ‘chains’ of message-driven EJBs, and couple them together at deployment time.
