Summary

This chapter has given you a tour of the core Web Forms controls. You've seen how they work and how they are transformed to HTML.

The basic Web Forms controls are the ones that I tend to use most frequently. They provide support for the design tools and control events, without generating a lot of JavaScript and inline styles. Some of the controls are at the opposite end of this spectrum; I rarely use the Calendar or Wizard controls, for example.

In the next chapter, we'll look at the options available for customizing controls to get exactly the behavior you want. This provides all of the benefits of the Web Controls tools and events and gives you a lot more control over the HTML that is generated.
