Summary

In this chapter, we have seen three different approaches to Ajax using jQuery and ASP.NET or WCF. Ajax is one of the key building blocks for rich web applications, and users' expectations of load times and efficiency are strongly influenced by the widespread use of this technique.

Of course, if you have users who cannot, or will not, use JavaScript, then Ajax isn't as appealing, but as the calculator demonstrations in this chapter have shown, it is possible to build web applications and pages that degrade gracefully and that will still function when JavaScript isn't available.
