Deciding When to Use Web Forms

There is no absolute right or wrong in software—only the degree to which a given technology is an appropriate solution to a particular kind of problem. The Web Forms strengths that I described are strengths only in the right context, just as the weaknesses are only problems when Web Forms is used in the wrong kinds of situations.

There is a sweet spot that brings together all of the benefits that Web Forms offers and minimizes the drawbacks. Web Forms can be extremely useful if you have a project with the following requirements:

  • Speed of development
  • Intranet deployment
  • Short life or low expectations of change
