5.2. The Architecture of the LabView Interface

The three layers of the VI, defined in the previous section, help shape the architecture of the VI, as shown in Figure 5-1.

Figure 5-2 shows the actual components for the layers. The user application layer includes the GUI and some links to the SQL database, test reports, and network connections. Test programs are the core of the VI, which provides all functionalities of test, measurement, and analysis. Hardware instrument drivers are low-level code that directly access the hardware via different interfaces.
