Chapter 8 Caching and Performance

Performance problems are probably one of the biggest issues that applications on the Web face today. Actually, the problems that can occur are not confined solely to the Web, but that is where the focus lies for this book. This chapter outlines some of the steps you can take to incorporate good performance characteristics into your application early in the development lifecycle. Provided in this chapter are discussion points, options, and some examples on how to leverage the caching infrastructure provided by the WebSphere Application Server product line.
