Name

whose

Syntax

set fJpegs to every file in folder "images" whose name ends with ".jpg"

Synonyms

where

Description

The whose and where reserved words represent the Filter reference forms. These reference styles allow the scripter to select objects based on characteristics that can be tested with a where or whose reserved word. To use where or whose, the statement first refers to an object such as a document file, disk, database record, or image file, which is followed by where or whose, and then a boolean expression. As the following examples indicate, you can create Structured Query Language (SQL)-type where statements that narrow the number of objects returned from a statement based on certain criteria.

Examples

get files where (creator type is not "MSWD") (* targeting the Finder, returns
only files that are not Microsoft Word files *)

get disks whose name is not (get name of startup disk) (* targeting the Finder,
returns disks other than the startup disk *)
