Installing RAM

All 15- and 17-inch PowerBooks have two small outline dual inline memory module (SO-DIMM) slots for memory (12-inch PowerBook G4 models have some memory built into the logic board and a single SO-DIMM slot for expansion). The maximum amount of memory that can be installed in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz) model discussed in this lesson is 2 GB, achieved by installing two 1 GB PC2700 SO-DIMM double data rate (DDR) memory modules.

The following installation process is extremely simple. It assumes you have already removed the PowerBook G4 computer's battery following the steps on the previous pages.
