Setting Up WDS

The final way to connect to the Internet through an AirPort base station is Wireless Distribution System (WDS), or wireless bridging.

Before you start configuring multiple base stations, you should plan what you want to accomplish with WDS. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • How many base stations do you want to bridge together?

    If more than five (one main and four secondary), you may need to set up two separate groups of bridged base stations.

  • Do you have all of the necessary MAC address info?

    Gather the AirPort IDs of all the base stations before you start. (They're located on the bottom of the base station.)
